Bethany Sajan is a Senior Intelligence Analyst on the Counter-Terrorism Team at the Virginia Fusion Center (VFC), which is a part of the Virginia State Police (VSP) Strategic and Tactical Intelligence Directorate. This team collects and disseminates information regarding foreign and domestic extremist activity that affects the Commonwealth of Virginia. Bethany focuses on the areas of sovereign citizen extremism and nihilistic violent extremism. She has been with the VFC for five years, beginning her time with the Watch Center team. This team acts as the VFC’s intake, provides case support for criminal activity, and tracks criminal trends affecting Virginia. Bethany began her career in the education field prior to becoming an intelligence analyst. Bethany received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature and a Master of Teaching in Elementary Education from the University of Virginia in 2015. She received a graduate certificate for completing the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Office of Partner Engagement’s (OPE) Center for Strategic Thinking and Education in Public Safety (C-STEPS) graduate program in 2024.
