Four Proactive Priorities for Decision Making in Schools
Tuesday July 21, 2026 10:30am - 11:30am EDT
As educators and safe, caring adults in schools, we make so many decisions within a day. For equity-centered trauma informed practices to be universal and noncomplex, we apply Alex Shevrin Venet’s four proactive priorities in our interactions and relationships with students and adults, pedagogy and academics, and systems, policy, and school wide practices. Answering these four questions: Is it predictable?, Is it flexible?, Does it foster empowerment? And Does it foster connection? will help all educators and safe, caring adults in schools be proactive and improve how schools are designed to provide safe and supportive environments.
